REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) — Fire officials say four people were injured, one seriously, in a six-alarm fire at a Redwood City apartment complex.
The fire was reported around 5:15 a.m. Thursday. Fire Marshal Jim Palisi tells KGO-TV crews arrived to find heavy fire on the upper floor.
Television news footage showed flames coming from the building and what appeared to be a gaping hole in the roof.
Palisi says four people were transported to the hospital with injuries, two of them minor, one moderate and one serious. He did not elaborate on the nature of the injuries, but said fire officials received reports that people did hear smoke alarms and evacuated the building.
Crews were still fighting the blaze around 7 a.m. Palisi said they were trying to keep the fire to the upper floor.
