SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) — Two people have died following an early morning trailer fire at a mobile home park in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Alameda County Fire Battalion Chief Chuck Palmer says the blaze occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Estudillo Trailer Park in San Leandro.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes of getting a 911 call, but the trailer was already engulfed at that point. Palmer says neighbors tried saving the victims by breaking the trailer's windows and front door, but were not successful.
Crews found a woman's body at the rear of the trailer and then discovered the body of an elderly man when they searched through the wreckage. The victims have not been identified.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
