MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — A video posted on YouTube shows Riverside County sheriff's deputies swarming a car and struggling to drag its occupant out minutes before the man they handcuffed collapsed and died.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says the confrontation took place Friday at a Burger King restaurant in Moreno Valley. Deputies arrived after witnesses reported a man acting erratically, throwing money and food out of his car.
Authorities say the deputies pulled 41-year-old Raymond Johnson out of the vehicle after he repeatedly refused to exit on his own.
They have declined to comment on the video.
It does not clearly show Johnson, but reveals officers clearly struggling with someone in the car.
Johnson's family says that although he struggled with drugs and petty crime, he was not violent.
They want an investigation.
