MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a sixth grader collapsed on the playground of a Riverside County school and later died.
Sheriff's and school officials said in statements that the 12-year-old boy collapsed while playing during a lunch break Tuesday at Vista Heights Middle School in Moreno Valley.
Police arrived to find school staffers performing CPR on the boy, who was taken to a hospital where he died.
The sheriff's statement says the boy showed no signs of any injuries but had a medical condition that may have contributed to his death.
The boy's name has not been released.
