2 die in Los Angeles County sheriff's custody

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities are investigating the deaths of two people while in the custody of Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies.

The department says 27-year-old Jenna Coleman was found lying on her cell bed at the sheriff's station in Valencia shortly after noon Saturday. She died at the scene. She'd been arrested Thursday for possessing a controlled substance.

In Lancaster, a man died Saturday while handcuffed in the back of a patrol car.

Deputies took him into custody around 4 a.m. after reports that he was yelling at people in a house.

Authorities say deputies suspected he was on drugs or alcohol and that he tried to kick out the patrol car windows before losing consciousness.

CPR failed to revive him and he died at the scene. His name hasn't been released.
