2 sisters plead not guilty in pimping case

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Two San Francisco sisters have pleaded not guilty to running a sex-trafficking ring in the city's Richmond District.

The women — identified as 37-year-old Qiao "Judy" He and 36-year-old Gaineng He — were each charged with 16 felonies, including seven counts of pimping, seven counts of pandering, one count of conspiracy to pimp and one count of conspiracy to pander.

They are accused of running two brothels and charging men up to $200 to have sex with at least seven young women.

Both women are free on $50,000 bail.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1kPrrDz ) that Deputy Public Defender Azita Ghafourpour, Gaineng He's attorney, said she applauded the judge's decision not to raise the women's bail because her client has breast cancer.

The Chronicle says George Lazarus, an attorney for Qiao He, did not return calls for comment.
