San Diego police shoot driver in police pursuit

SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego police say officers shot a driver after he aimed a pistol at them through his car windows.

The U-T San Diego newspaper (http://bit.ly/1iYoTag ) reported Friday that officers fired their guns at the driver at 9:30 a.m. Thursday after an hour-long pursuit with him.

Police say the man is a suspect in a double shooting that occurred Monday and he fled after an officer tried to pull him over for talking on a cellphone while driving. He was listed in critical condition.

Lt. Mike Hastings told the newspaper that a gun was seized at the scene.

The officers have been put on paid leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation into the shooting.
