RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 51-year-old man in a rural Northern California town has emerged as the focus of the investigation into a Reno hospital shooting. Plumas County Sheriff Greg Hagwood says his agency helped Reno police yesterday search the home of Alan Frazier near Lake Almanor. Reno police have not confirmed whether Frazier was the gunman who shot and killed a doctor and wounded two other people before killing himself.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A small earthquake has rattled the west side of Los Angeles and coastal suburbs. The USGS says the 8 a.m. quake measured magnitude-2.8 and was centered a mile northwest of Marina del Rey. Residents reporting the quake on the USGS website mostly describe it as weak.
