Classmates remember boy who died after soccer game

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Classmates are remembering a 12-year-old boy who died after collapsing while playing soccer at a Riverside school.

Christopher Thornberry was trying out for the soccer team Thursday when he collapsed on the field. He was pronounced dead at the hospital

Classmates overflowed the Riverside Christian Schools chapel to remember the boy who carried around a Nerf football.

Secondary school principal Vance Nichols told the Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/1bJWRI1 ) that Chris will be missed.

School was closed on Friday after Chris' death, but will reopen on Monday. Youth pastors and counselors will be on hand.
