5 students hurt in science experiment at LA school

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Officials say five students were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after a science experiment caused an explosion outside a Los Angeles High School.

City News Service reports that Amino Watts Charter High School was partly evacuated after the Tuesday morning blast, but no one was seriously injured.

County fire Inspector Scott Miller says some students were also taken for treatment by their parents, but he didn't know how many.

Details about the explosion and the science experiment were not immediately available.
