Ex-television pet groomer pleads guilty to arson

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — A pet groomer who appeared on a pair of reality TV shows has pleaded guilty to arson for setting fire to a carport at his Pasadena apartment building two years ago.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/PjQ189 ) that Artis Willie Knox, who starred in the Animal Planet program "Beverly Hills Groomer," is expected to get more than five years in prison when he's sentenced next month. He will also be required to register as a convicted arsonist on a statewide database. He entered his plea on Thursday.

Prosecutors say Knox torched the carport because he could not afford his rent and hoped the fire would allow him to stay longer.

Knox was named the 2008 "Groomer of the Year" on Animal Planet's "Groomer Has It" show.
