James Stewart wins Supercross race in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (AP) — James Stewart raced to his first AMA Supercross victory of the season Saturday night, holding off three-time defending 450SX series champion Ryan Villopoto at Qualcomm Stadium.

Stewart, the Suzuki rider from Haines City, Fla., has 46 career victories.

Ken Roczen was third, and Ryan Dungey fourth.

Villopoto leads the series standing, nine points ahead of Roczen. Stewart is fourth, 21 points back.

Earlier, Kawasaki's Justin Hill, from Yoncalla, Ore., raced to his first Western Regional 250SK Class victory.
