Man fatally shot in San Jose

SAN JOSE , Calif. (AP) — A man was fatally shot Thursday morning in Northern California, and so far, police have no suspects.

San Jose Police Lt. Jason Herr said investigators responded just before 5:30 a.m. to a report of a man found dead in his car.

Herr says 27-year-old Eric Mendoza, a married father of a 6-month-old son, was probably shot while driving and then veered down the street and crashed into the car in front of him.

Though the neighborhood is a hub of gang activity, Mendoza's relatives said he was not gang-affiliated.

The authorities said they had no suspects or motives.
