S. Calif. crackdown targets foreign sex offenders

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Immigration agents say they've arrested 57 convicted sex offenders in a Southern California operation aimed at deporting foreign criminals.

Authorities Friday say arrests were made in Los Angeles County and five other counties during a three-day operation that ended Wednesday.

Those arrested included a convicted rapist from Mexico who'd been deported. He's facing felony charges of re-entering the United States illegally and could face up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
