Benson talks with Megyn Kelly about an assault weapons ban and President Obama's leadership when it comes to pushing for gun control legislation.
It seems obvious that Jay Carney speaking for the President couldn't just come out and say "The President had to make a great many promises which he never intended to keep in order to satisfy all of the special interest groups he cobbled together for big wins in both 2008 and again in 2012." Though it seems true enough, neither Mr. Carney nor the President himself could ever say that in so many words without risking that some of the most ardent assault weapons ban advocates might begin 24 hour a day rioting outside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and possibly even make the ends of the ban justify the means for a wing nut already on the brink to flip out and buy one and to take a few pot shots at the White House just to let the Man know how serious they are. The fact that his constituents can't connect those dots themselves allows the First Family and the Spokesman in chief to sleep peacefully on these cold Winter nights. and the rest of us as well.
